The Women’s Grand Prix in the Spanish city of Gandia concluded on May 10 with a Dutch one-two finish. Therese Klompenhouwer claimed the gold medal, while Karina Jetten took silver.
In the semi-final, Guzin Mujde Karakasli from Turkey offered strong resistance, but Therese eventually secured a convincing 30–16 victory in 22 innings.
The all-Dutch final started promisingly for Karina Jetten, but as the match progressed, Therese completely took control. With impressive play, she reached the required 30 points in 20 innings, while Karina remained on 10 points.
Another positive outcome after the event was the announcement that these tournaments, aimed at promoting women’s billiards, will continue next year as well. This year, another event will still be held in Herstal, while next year’s calendar already includes tournaments in Gandia and Bottrop.
