Today was the day that Therese Klompenhouwer could set a new world record (ten times national champion in a row). A memorable day within female billiards. After being undefeated in the preliminary round, it was time for the knockout phase.
At 11.00, Therese started playing the quarter final against the talented Daisy Werdekker. For a long time, both players were in balance with, but at the end Therese showed her absolute class and won despite a really well played match of her opponent. Result 30-22 (in 29).
In the semi-final, she had to play against Gerrie Geelen. An absolute thriller and also a match which also could have been the final. Maybe the best billiard demonstration ever within female billiards. Therese started extremely well 16-3 (in 5). Gerrie Geelen however countered with a run of 7 and managed to bend the game within no time into 23-27 (in 17). Therese pushed herself again and scored 2, another 2 and 3 caramboles (using 2 time outs). This time Gerrie Geelen got not counter. Result 30-27 in 20 turns.
In the final, Therese played against Loes van Dansik. Probably still tired of the semi-final, Therese started not that well, but was eventually able to manage a comfortable win 18-30 (in 34), setting a new world record; ten times national champion in a row).
